Nick McQuik – An Entirely True Story
The Quik & Slow Comedy Show is proud to present guest and host, podcast namesake and overall narcissist, Nick McQuik. Nick chats up his buddies this episode (and the next) to bring the listening audience a little glimpse of his life. Find out how he started in comedy, what it takes to be a broken boxer and how to tame Mother Nature.
Born from the witchy cask his pagan mum called a uterus in the icy chills of the Northwest Territories, Nick broke the shackles of isolation and headed for the big city, Edmonton. There, he met people, a relatively new concept for the full-functioning autistic boy.
He joined the football team at an art school. He broke his ankles practicing parquor. He was hit in the head several times by an assortment of bricky objects. He was stabbed and slashed. He made friends. Then he went on to write and perform stand up comedy to the pleasure of many in the community including people. People who would go on to say that Nick’s comedy doesn’t have punchlines…in a funny way.
And in a lot of ways that sums up Nick…and this episode. It is funny without having jokes; a style many have attempted yet only one has achieved. So here is to Nick. Half comedian. Half diesel mechanic. All horse.
